Spore Basics

Mushroom spores are the microscopic "seeds" of fungi — single cells that carry the genetic blueprint of the mushroom. Our products come in two main forms:

Spore syringes

A sterile syringe filled with a suspension of spores in purified water. Syringes are the most popular choice for microscopy because a single drop on a slide contains thousands of spores ready to observe.

Spore prints

Spores collected on sterile foil or paper directly from a mushroom cap. Prints store for years in a cool, dark place and can make many syringes.

Storage

Keep spores cool, dark, and dry. Syringes last 6–12 months refrigerated; prints last several years at room temperature away from light.

All of our spores are for microscopy, taxonomy, and research purposes. See our disclaimer for details.
